This afternoon, we watched this horror comedy film on Shudder.
It was recommended by a good friend of mine the other week.
"A waxwork museum comes to town, and the mysterious owner invites some teens to come to a special showing at midnight. Once inside, while viewing different exhibits, they get sucked through portals and the scenes come alive with the story being portrayed which leads to their demise except for two of the teenagers who must stop the mysterious owner from unleashing evil on the world."
The cast list include Zach Galligan, David Warner, Patrick Macnee, and John Rhys-Davies.
The special effects are not that bad and the story had some good merits to it but the teenagers were awful and I really wanted them to being ended by the bad guys in the Waxwork Museum.
The "eighteen most evil beings" used in the film are the Marquis de Sade, a werewolf, Count Dracula, a Golem, the Phantom of the Opera, The Mummy, George A. Romero-style zombies, Frankenstein's monster, Jack the Ripper, The Invisible Man, a voodoo priest, a witch, a snakeman, Rosemary's Baby, an axe murderer, an alien, a giant talking Venus flytrap, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
They even had a creepy dwarf that needed to be set on fire and locked away forever. Think of Tattoo from Fantasy Island but more creepy looking.
The end battle between Patrick Macnee's Sir Wilfred and his fellow monster hunters going up against a whole load of evil monsters come alive was the highlight of the movie.
I was slightly disappointed by the film and I expected a lot more.
I shall rate this film a score of 5/10.
