THE FINALE OF DOCTOR WHO

Yesterday afternoon, we watched this shitty finale of Doctor Who titled "Empire of Death" on BBC iPlayer. This was series 14, episode 8 and it follows on from last week's story "The Legend of Ruby Sunday."

"The Doctor has lost, his ageless enemy reigns supreme, and a shadow is falling over creation. Nothing can stop the devastation - except, perhaps, one woman."
OMG! This was such a bad finale episode of the once great Doctor Who series before Jodie Whittiker took over the role and now Gatwa has completely ruined the role as has the hack writer RTD.
Bringing back Sutekh was an interesting idea, but he is an Osiran, an alien race that inspired the Egyptian Gods, but in fact he is not a true God himself, but a wannabe.
As for him attaching himself to the TARDIS at the end of the 1975 story “Pyramids of Mars”, How? When the Doctor arrived on Mars to confront Sutekh in that story, he travelled there via a Space-Time Tunnel as the TARDIS was still stuck at the priory on Earth in 1911. There is no way he was able to reach Earth and piggyback a ride on top of the TARDIS as he was sent into the far future and die of old age.
And even if by some miracle he did manage to do this, which he did not, what about every time the TARDIS is destroyed in flames when the Doctor regenerates (from new Who onwards), or when the TARDIS is blown up and destroyed by The Silence, that results in the crack in reality during the Matt Smith (11th Doctor) era? Or what about the Time War? I’m sure the ruling class of Timelords would notice something not quite right with the Doctor’s TARDIS, and let’s not forget about Idris? The Human personality of the Timelord’s home, even “House” took control of the TARDIS, and what about Captain Jack Harkness, when he jumped on top of the TARDIS during a trip through the Time Vortex when the 10th Doctor was in charge.
Put it this way, the whole idea of Sutekh being controlling the TARDIS for millions of years and living on top of the machine is just plain ridiculous, but what do you expect from a failed writer!
RTD decided not to include any Egyptian Motifs in this story, so no Mummies, No Egyptian symbolism, nothing. There was nothing in this whole series to make out that Sutekh was going to be this season’s Big Bad, not like previous seasons, where we have had clues for the audience to think about it. How about in the series, we had an Eye of Horus graffiti in various buildings, or pictures of a Pyramid, or even a Mummy in a store window, or something.
And the reasons why? RTD uses a ‘metareference’ to describe the Egyptian motifs as cultural appropriation. What a load of bollocks!
And as for the mystery of Ruby Sunday, she is Normal and so is her Mum! What the Fuck?
So, explain the reason why it is snowing every time Ruby is emotional, even indoors or on a space station or the song “Carol of the Bells” is always playing too in the background that even the Doctor can hear.
And there is no way that Baby Ruby was a newborn infant, as the baby looked like a few months old and what about the nurses/doctors, would they not have been worried about the infant baby? And the mum leaving her in the dead of winter in the snow by herself was unlawfully and morally wrong, she should have been arrested for that crime. Her parents were basically 15-year-old chavs who did not deserve have a baby.
The hooded figure that left the baby at the church and walked away looked too tall for a 15 yr. old girl and weird looking, even pointing towards the Doctor was strange, as it seems she was pointing to the sign of ‘Ruby Road’ but to whom? Who was looking at that, as it means nothing to no one.
And don’t get me started with the whole “Thanos Dusting” as every life, including plant and animal all dissolved into dust, everywhere throughout the universe.
Except for one single lonely woman on an alien world, but I will get back to that in a minute.(1)
People were running away from the Dust Deathwave and nobody was safe from it, except for the Doctor, Ruby, and Mel who locked themselves in the Time Window.
What got me, was that The Doctor even ordered a UNIT soldier out of the room, knowing he was sending her to her death, but he still did it like the monster he has become.
And millions on Earth would have died anyway when the reset button was pressed and everyone in the universe was brought back to life, but I will get to that in a minute too. (2)
The trio of heroes manifested a memory TARDIS from the Hologram chamber and escaped through time and space, which is just stupid. The memory TARDIS does not work like that, and there is no way scientifically or even physically that it would work like that.
1/ Anyway, for some strange reason, they arrive on an unknown alien world and the Doctor walks into a tent where he finds a lonely kind woman who for some strange unknown reason is still alive but very forgetful and she hands the Doctor a spoon as he needs metal to repair a device onboard the memory TARDIS, and then she fades away into dust. She was basically a MacGuffin for the story that was not needed.
So, when they do defeat Sutekh, they lash a rope around his collar as he is a giant dog and tie him to the TARDIS as it travels through the Time Vortex reversing all the damage to the universe and bringing every life back to the living. He is basically a bad puppy and is being punished, the Doctor then snaps the rope and Sutekh dissolves into nothingness.
But wait, there’s more!
2/ Millions of Humans on Earth alone would have died anyway after the dusting as several weeks had passed since Sutekh had killed everyone and that means, Airplanes, Submarines, Warships, Cars, busses, Motorcycles, etc would have crashed when everyone got dusted and when they came back, to what? The Airplanes would have crashed into the ground destroying everything in its path, same goes with the Subs, Ships, and all other vehicles. And the Hospital patients on life support machines or iron lungs would have died too, The Nuclear power plants without being controlled by Humans would have blown up, because they would need a Human to press the computer buttons, and as a lot of wars are happening at the moment on Earth, people would have been de-dusted and coming back to utter chaos and conflict. And that’s just Earth, what about all the other alien worlds including Skaro? Don’t you think they would figure out that it’s the Doctors fault and they and other war-mongering Alien races would all invade Earth for retribution and revenge.
What about E-Space and the parallel universe where Rose Tyler and the alternate copy of the 10th Doctor reside? It takes up too much energy for our TARDIS to even travel to other realities to set things right, so are they all dead as well?
And speaking about the 10th Doctor, or should I say the 14th Doctor who is still a Timelord and is sleeping on Donna Noble’s sofa and has his TARDIS in her back garden, why did Sutekh not reside on his TARDIS as they had split into two when the 15th Doctor hit it with a giant hammer last year.
So, all in all, I am disgusted by the sheer lack of decent writing for this show and the direction it has head into. I am offended by the hack writing from RTD. The writing is horrendous, and he doesn’t care about the audience anymore and treats them like plebs. He writes this series as a “Choose Your Own Adventure” without filling in the ending and wanting the audience to come up with their own meanings and endings themselves as he can’t be bothered as the computer has definitely said NO!
I am sick and tired of all these sycophants who gush over and adore his style and writing, same goes for the real bad attitude and acting style of Ncuti Gatwa as the Gay 15th Doctor, who in every episode he cries like a baby and is scared, the Doctor does not get scared that often and when he does he does not show it and nor does he run away like Gatwa does. When he does run, he runs away with his companions to keep them safe!
And as for his companion, Ruby Sunday played by Millie Gibson who is talented yet highly underused in this series and her whole story arc was just stupid, as RTD sets up a mystery of her origins and does not follow through with it. I hope the actress goes on to do better things and marks this period of her career as a huge mistake and learning curve of not what to do in acting.
I am also offended by the lack of special effects, where the hell did the Disney budget money go too? It was not location shooting, it was not for the bad CGI effects, maybe it was for Gatwa’s wardrobe, I doubt that, maybe it was for RTD’s back pocket as he knows his career is coming to an end after this shitshow.
They made a huge mistake in filming the two seasons and Christmas special back-to back, as all the real bad ratings and reviews we have gotten this last 6 weeks won’t affect the second season of Gatwa’s hopefully short tenue as the Doctor as it’s already been filmed, so they won’t learn from their mistakes and the second season will be as bad as the first.
This final episode only took in 2.25 million viewers and that is really bad, the whole season has had the worst ratings ever in the history of the TV show and it’s shocking, even Jodie Whittiker’s era faired better than this and she was not very popular.
RTD just wanted to make a GAY Doctor Who series and he succeed and failed as that is not what the audience and fans want.
This series has died, and it needs cancelling or better yet, a new showrunner and a new actor, a straight male actor in the role of the Doctor. I can’t even see Disney continuing with their funding as the show has not even been in the Top 10 of their American Nielsens ratings.
This has been a damp squib of a series and episode. The only highlight for me was the few appearances of the mysterious Mrs. Flood played by the legendary Anita Dobson.
I shall rate this episode a score of 2/10 and the whole series a score of 3/10.
