Last night, I watched this Irish action thriller on Netflix.
"Passing a quiet existence in a small Irish village, World War II veteran and widower Finbar Murphy leads a double life as a hitman working for an underworld boss, but he is now disillusioned with all the killing after a recent "Hit" and he wants to retire and pass the reigns to a younger upstart hitman, but when a group of IRA terrorists who are on the run from the law arrives in his sleepy Irish village where he calls home and has friends living there, he must now get revenge and restore the peace at whatever the cost."
The movie is set in 1974, during the Irish Troubles.
Interesting fact is that my parents lived in Northern Ireland during this time period and I was almost born over there, I even had links with the IRA as well but that's another story for another time.
The writing of this movie is superb and the film stands out due to great acting by a stellar supporting cast such as Ciarán Hinds, Cold Meaney, Jack Gleeson and Kerry Condon. And by the fantastic cinematography. Even the quieter moments during this film stands out really well and there is no dull boring moments throughout.
This is above your normal typical Liam Neeson revenge thrillers that he is known for and one of the best films he has made in my opinion.
I highly recommend this movie.
I shall rate this film a score of 9/10.
