GODZILLA MINUS ONE

This afternoon, we watched this epic 2023 Japanese Kaiju film "Godzilla Minus One" which was written, directed, and with visual effects by Takashi Yamazaki on Netflix.
Now I will say this first, I am NOT a fan of Godzilla in any capacity, Okay I did enjoy the Matthew Broderick movie that came out in 1998 and the cartoon that had Godzooky in it, but apart from these two, I dislike Godzilla in general as the character makes no scientific sense whatsoever! Not unlike a giant Ape in King Kong that does make sense.
Now we watched this as it's brand new and has just been released on Netflix.
"Post-war Japan is at its lowest point when a new crisis emerges in the form of a giant monster, baptized in the horrific power of the atomic bomb. Feeling as if he unfairly cheated death too many times, Shikishima, a surviving Kamikaze pilot, is attacked on Odo Island along with many war plane engineers by a gargantuan monster. After the engineers die because of Shikishima failing to distract the monster, an overwhelming amount of guilt weighs on him, especially after a homeless woman and a baby move into his home when he returns. Shikishima, now on a personal mission, teams up with a large group of veterans to finally take down the monster known as Godzilla."
This was an epic anti-war film for the ages and the story was brilliant as was all the special effects and acting.
Everyone did a wonderful job in their roles, including the little girl Akiko, who I believe was pinched by somebody to make her cry!
Godzilla is still very silly as quite clearly it's a bloke wearing a rubber suit, and his powers don't make any sense, but it's a creature feature, so what the heck!
The Human story is very riveting as they try to survive the aftermath of WWII and rebuild their lives after many were lost. and now the crisis of a monster created by the Atomic blasts that had destroyed two of their cities with thanks to America for that!
I highly recommend this film as I'm not a fan so it must be good!
I shall rate this film a score of 8/10.
