Last night, I watched this British action crime comedy on Prime.
It is directed, written, produced and stars Adam Deacon.
"Two hapless friends Riko and Kane have got it all... big dreams, no respect and a fifteen grand debt. Could things get any worse? Yes. So, it's time to man up and finally be taken serious as "Roadmen". Once putting their heads together on various ways to make some money, they decide to rob a megastar (Lethal Bizzle) in a nightclub toilet and hold up the local bank where they encounter Jeremy Corbyn, but things inevitably don't go to plan!. However, somehow a misunderstanding leads them to be desired and acquired for business with one of East London's toughest firms, putting them in the line of fire to the firm's arch-rivals. Can Riko and Kane live up to their name? Will Riko win the affection of Tamara and if he does, will Tyrese, Tamara's lunatic stepbrother, allow Riko to live? Will his life be worth living if the local London Feds draw a line back to our duo?"
This is a very funny comedy that pokes fun at the whole "Black Youth Gangsters Culture" and other London based crime films.
The dialogue was hard to understand at first as there is a lot of British Black culture words that do not make any sense, they sounded very alien to me.
The action scenes were really good for a comedy film, and yes you do notice when a stunt double is replacing the character of the tiny short Riko played by Adam Deacon.
The cameos were good and outside of British viewers, I doubt American viewers will understand who they all are.
We had the former Labour MP Jeremy Corbyn appearing in the bank robbery scene. We had the Ginger singer Ed Sheeran as Crack Ed, a drug pusher.
The British Black rapper Lethal Bizzle was in this as himself as he takes down the duo as they try to rob him in the Gents toilets at a gig.
And a whole host of other Black rappers, grime artists, comedians and actors that make up the various gangsters.
I have only seen a few Adam Deacon films, and he is entertaining fellow, he even incorporates is Bipolar Disorder into his character and his usage of smoking weed.
This was a very good film, but I wish it had subtitles! lol
I shall rate this flick a score of 7/10.
