It's loosely inspired off the Japanese 70's TV show "Monkey," The Japanese production was based on the 16th-century Chinese novel "Journey to the West."
The show was incredibly popular and garnered a cult following in New Zealand, Australia, the U.K. and South Africa.
So Australia and New Zealand created and co-produced this new series with Netflix. It lasted two seasons and was really good.
It was action packed and very funny with some nice nods and easter eggs to the original 70's series.
I love the mythology of the Monkey King and all the stories about him and I was a fan of the 70's series as at school, we use to play Monkey in the school playground.
I will rate this series a score of 8/10.
