LIVING BRIDGES

In Meghalaya, India, the Khasi tribes build living bridges. Tree trunks are planted on each side of a bank. For the next 15-30 years, roots are thread across a temporary bamboo scaffolding until they connect. Unlike concrete bridges, they grow stronger over time.
