THE RED KING OF IRELAND

 Rechtaid Rígderg, the 'red king' of Ireland. According to Irish legend and historical tradition, he became the High King of Ireland after killing Macha Mong Ruad, daughter of his father's killer, Áed Rúad. He ruled for twenty years until he was killed by Úgaine Mór, foster-son of Macha and her husband Cimbáeth.

Rechtaid Rígderg's reign is dated from 461 to 441 BC. He was the son of Lugaid Laigdech and took power after avenging his father's death. His reign was marked by several battles and conflicts with neighboring kingdoms. Despite this, he managed to maintain his power for two decades.
However, his reign came to an end when he was defeated by Úgaine Mór. Despite being a foster-son of Macha and her husband, Úgaine Mór sought revenge for Macha's death at the hands of Rechtaid Rígderg.
Rechtaid Rígderg was a powerful High King of Ireland who ruled for twenty years. His reign was marked by several battles and conflicts, but he managed to maintain his power until his tragic end.
