YMIR

Ymir was the first of the jotunn (ice giants) and also the first living being to emerge in the Norse cosmogony. It was created from the encounter of the flames of Muspelheim (the kingdom of fire) and the ice rivers of Niflheim (the kingdom of mists). Once raised, Ymir remained asleep for several ages, during which his sweat had spawned countless giants, as well as other evil creatures.
