CLICK & COLLECT

This afternoon, we watched this 2018 British Christmas buddy road-trip comedy film on Netflix.

"It stars Stephen Merchant and Asim Chaudhry as two mismatched neighbours who must make a road trip from Bedford to Carlisle, so that Merchant's character can buy his daughter that special Christmas present on Christmas Eve. Lot's of hijinks ensure as they make their trip up North!"
The film has a lot of homages to classic films like "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" and "Jingle All The Way," as the two men end their journey becoming friends and getting the gift the daughter needs.
This is a very sweet, charming Christmas movie with some humourous moments.
This was very well written and directed and a pleasure to watch.
I shall rate this film a score of 8/10.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARC

Happy 76th Birthday to Marc Singer.

Star of Beastmaster and V.

THE HAUNTED MANSION

Yesterday afternoon, we watched this supernatural horror comedy on Disney+

I have actually seen the remake first for which I was not that impressed by, so I wanted to watch this now to compare the two and I loved this original version starring Eddie Murphy.
The story was a lot better and very sweet and not so scary.
The actors involved were brilliant as Terence Stamp as the sinister butler did a wonderful job.
I know this film first came out in 2003, but I highly recommend it.
I shall rate this flick a score of 8/10.

THE NEXT STAGE

After I die, I'm not coming back here, not even to haunt you lot.

I AM GOOD!

The most truly generous persons are those who give silently without hope of praise or reward.

DUMB IDEAS

I believed that I was loved by my parents and sister, but I was not.

TIRED

I am very tired and I need a break from my mindful thoughts and soul.

TARDIS WOOWOO!

Amy Pond's Woowoo is bigger on the inside!

DANELAW

While Danelaw may not have lasted forever, the Norse invasion and the establishment of Danelaw had a deep and long standing impact on Britain, with some of the legacies of the Vikings in Britain still visible today.

The establishment of Danelaw, and the overall presence of the Vikings, in British society had an impact on everything from language to place names to traditions and cultural customs. Places such as Grimsby and Derby, two settlements that were once located within the borders of Danelaw, still bear the suffix by.
This suffix was widely used in Scandinavian place names and referred to a farmstead or village in Old Norse. Similarly, the word-ending thorpe also has roots to Viking times, meaning new village, and can be seen in place names such as Scunthorpe.
The wide use of Old Norse, spoken by the Vikings, also came to have an impact on the language spoken across England.

AMBULANCE

This afternoon, we watched this action heist thriller on Netflix.

Directed by Michael Bay with a runtime of 2 hours 16 mins.
"It stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as adoptive brothers who hijack an ambulance after robbing a bank, and take a paramedic played by Eiza González and an injured police officer played by Jackson White hostage. and thus starts the longest police chase in history in downtown Los Angeles."
This film is filled with brilliant chases and gunplay as a lot of police officers get killed, The cinematography is outstanding as Bay shot most of the film using drones and it tells.
The acting and dialogue is brilliant and funny at times, it all felt very real and the action was on the edge of your seat, I almost fell off my wheelchair because it was very exciting.
This is a lot better then the trailer makes out and I will watch this again.
I would rate this a score of 9/10 as it lost one point due to the drone footage during the chase sequences as it made you feel very dizzy. But apart from that, go and watch it!

BOTTOMS

Yesterday we watched this teen comedy film on Prime Video.

"Its plot follows two gay high school senior girls who set up a fight club as a way to hook up with cheerleaders."
The film is directed, written, and stars young women who not only empower themselves but the audience as well.
I don't normally enjoy films that are all female led as when the films fails, the men get blamed, but this one is incredibly funny and sweet, the cast are wonderful in their roles and the story itself starts off crass but it's a good story where the downtrodden rise up and change the way the school sees them as young empowered gay women and they become the heroes they are meant to be.
The football jocks in this film are incredibly stupid and deserve what happens to them.
I would actually watch this again, it's funny but not laugh out loud funny, it's a sweet film.
I would rate this movie a score of 8/10.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY B5!

One of the Greatest Science Fiction Shows on TV Celebrates it's 30th Birthday.

I have been a huge fan of this epic show since I first bought the VHS tape from Our Price 31 years ago, and not knowing what the film was about, as the series started off as a pilot movie. The sales were successful so much that they made it into a five-year series.
I loved this show so much and recently, they released an animated film last year, which I still need to watch.

ANANSI

Anansi the Spider in human form. Anansi is the Yoruba god of stories. He is a trickster god who enjoys causing trouble for people. Not out of maliciousness, but just because he thinks its funny.

His human form is that of a harmless old black man who works a little softshoe, puts a hat down to sing some Old School Blues, and if he can find a card game after that's just fine with him.
As a supervillain, he's mostly an irritation; he'll take some wealthy person for a lot of money, or for some amazingly valuable item in a long and detailed confidence scheme, or make off with the precious daughter of some overprotective parent who, when "rescued", will deny they ever needed saving.
Anansi has enormous charisma. No, more charisma than that. He's capable of attracting and seducing women -- multiple at a time -- seemingly at will and never spends the night alone. But he never sticks around. As a result, he's left a long trail of illegitimate children, most of which have similar abilities to his own, across the US. He's mostly active in New Orleans and the beach communities along the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Especially anywhere he can find a casino.
You *want* to like this guy, even as he's lifting your wallet from your pocket and leaving you with the bar tab.
In his other form, Anansi appears as a black jeweled spider that can be anyhing from normal sized for a jumping spider to being nearly ten feet across.

STARS!

Each of those dots you see is a GALAXY... And each GALAXY has roughly 100 BILLION STARS. (Give or Take)

Also, each STAR has at least 1 PLANET.
Now how many Galaxies do you think there can be in that picture?
And this is just a photograph of a very little parcel of the Universe.
We are so insignificant we really are, as is the Earth in the grand scheme of things.
We cannot be the only life in the whole Universe. There is life out there, everywhere!

HERSHEY

Milton Snavely Hershey (1857 – 1945) was an American chocolatier, businessman, and philanthropist.

Hershey pioneered the manufacture of caramel, using fresh milk. The first Hershey bars were sold in 1900 and proved so popular that he was able to build his own company town of Hershey, Pennsylvania.
When he and his wife, Catherine, realized they could not have children, they founded a school for orphaned boys, accommodating around 2,000 students as of 2016. In WWII the company developed a special non-melting bar for troops serving overseas. The Hershey Company, known as Hershey's, is one of the world's biggest confectionery manufacturers.

But I do find their chocolate taste disgusting!

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVOLUTION PART ONE

Last night, I watched the first five episodes of season two of the animated series “Masters of the Universe: Revolution” on Netflix.

The first season "Masters of the Universe: Revelation” was utter rubbish and that is the fault of Kevin Smith who was the showrunner and he claimed that he is a "Huge Fan" which he utterly pissed all over the mythos of MotU. He made the first series all preachy and woke and very MeToo inclusive.
However, I was not sure if I should watch this second series or not, but a good friend of mine who's word I trust, loved it and he is a Fan!
This series (of 5 episodes so far) had a decent storyline and character growth which exceeded far beyond the first season.
Hordak was the primary villain with Mark Hamill voicing Skeletor/Skeletek again. (channelling his Joker persona).
Meg Foster (from the live action movie) voices the villain Motherboard.
The character of Gwildor from the live action film also makes an important appearance as well, as he helps He-Man in his quest.
William Shatner voices Adam's uncle "Keldor" who I discovered his backstory in this series. (No Spoliers)
The character of Evil-Lyn redeems herself and like the first series, was one of the most interesting characters in the show.
Man At Arms has renamed himself Man At War and has a shiny new suit, and in the end, He-Man transforms into a Dolph Lundgren style He-Man from the movie, with new armour.
They did steal the look of the Ironman "Hulkbuster" Armour for a couple of characters. and I do believe the merchandise will overflow this year with new action figures which I know my friend will be very happy.
I am looking forward to Part II of this series, which should be out later this year.
I have no complaints about this show and I shall rate it a score of 8/10. Well worth watching and it has redeemed itself since season one.

This scene is filmed in front of Milton Keynes Railway Station, UK.

THE NIGHTLING

Several weeks after The Purge, an unidentified crime-fighter appears in the ruins of the Westside, wearing a variation of The Masque's uniform. Double Devil - who witnessed The Midnight Stalker's murder at the hands of Nergal - decides to investigate the newcomer's presence and quickly discovers that this mysterious vigilante is a teenaged girl with much the same powers as her predecessor. Apart from that, the investigation yields more questions than it does answers...

DESTROY ALL NEIGHBORS!

Last night, I watched this low budget horror comedy on Shudder.

"William Brown, a neurotic, self-absorbed musician determined to finish his prog-rock magnum opus, faces a creative roadblock in the form of a noisy and grotesque neighbor named Vlad. Finally working up the nerve to demand that Vlad keep it down, William inadvertently decapitates him. But, while attempting to cover up one murder, William's accidental reign of terror causes victims to pile up and become undead corpses who torment and create more bloody detours on his road to prog-rock Valhalla."
I don't know any of the cast members except for Alex Winter who plays dual roles in this movie.
The music taste is not my cup of tea and I had to turn the sound down quite a bit as it was too loud for my sensitive British 80's music head.
The acting was okay-ish but not brilliant and I found most of the characters to be bloody annoying and deserve being killed off.
The only aspect of the film I actually liked was the make-up and animatronics of the dead corpses as it reminded me a lot of "An American Werewolf in London" with the dead corpses haunting David.
I am glad the movie run time was only 1 hour 25 mins as it got boring very quickly.
I do not recommend this film unless you love "Prog Rock"
Plus, it's Neighbours! not Neighbors! I wish Americans could spell properly and use the correct grammar.
I shall rate this flick a score of 3/10.

MICKLEGATE BAR

I miss shopping in York. I always wanted to live there as well.

"The 12th-century Micklegate Bar in York, England. This was once the main entrance into the old walled city for people coming from the south. It served as a ceremonial entrance for monarchs: King Edward IV, Richard III Henry VII, James I, Charles I, the future James II all entered the city through here.
Often displayed on the gatehouse were the heads and other body parts of enemies. Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York (father of Edward IV and Richard III), Edmund, Earl of Rutland (another son of Richard) and Richard Neville, 5th Earl of Salisbury, all had their severed heads displayed on this gatehouse.
The lower part of the gatehouse is 12th century, the upper parts date to later centuries."

TANUKI

Picture a racoon on a bender with Houdini skills and a pair of magic scrotacles the size of watermelons. That, my friend, is the Tanuki of Japanese folklore. They're real-life raccoon dogs, yes, but in the Land of the Rising Sun, they're also shape-shifting tricksters with a penchant for partying – a far cry from your average trash panda.

These fluffy fiends are masters of disguise, transforming into anything from teapots to temples to your long-lost grandma (awkward!). And here's the kicker: their magic balls – yes, I'm talking about their, erm, sizeable testicles – are like cosmic Swiss Army knives. Need a drum to serenade your sake-loving buddies? Bam! Testi-drum. Giant fan to cool off after a sake-fueled dance marathon? Testi-fan, baby! It's a one-stop shop for magical appendages.
Now, not all Tanuki are furry Robin Hoods. Some are shady scoundrels, pulling off heists that make Ocean's Eleven look like a lemonade stand. Others have a penchant for kidnapping, which, you know, not cool. But fear not, most Tanuki are more mischievous pranksters than malevolent maniacs. They'll happily deliver messages for mischievous gods, play harmless tricks, and maybe even lend you their testi-fan (use with caution!).
So, the next time you hear a raucous laughter echoing through the bamboo forest, or see a suspiciously large pair of acorns waddling towards you, remember the Tanuki. They're life's party animals, with a twinkle in their eyes and a bag of magical scrotacular tricks up their sleeves (or pants, if you prefer). Just promise me you won't ask to borrow the testi-drum – some things are better left to the imagination.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGUS!

Happy 74th Birthday to Richard Dean Anderson.

Famous for his lead role in Macgyver and Stargate:SG1.

Z

Last night, I watched this supernatural horror film on Shudder.

"A Wife and Husband finds themselves terrorized by their eight-year-old son's imaginary friend named Z."
This is a low budget Canadian horror flick with some decent acting from those involved and it had some decent jump scare moments throughout the movie, even I jumped from my chair once or twice which is very rare for me!
I shall rate this movie a score of 6/10.

THE PASSING OF GARY

Rest in Peace to Legendary Alien Nation and Star Trek actor Gary Graham.

LUPIN SEASONS 2 AND 3

Last night, I finished watching season 2 and 3 of the crime drama Lupin on Netflix.

"Inspired by the adventures of Arsène Lupin, gentleman thief Assane Diop (Omar Sy) sets out to avenge his father's death for an injustice inflicted by a wealthy family."
Arsène Lupin is a character created by French novelist and short story writer, Maurice Leblanc, in 1905, and this series is not about him, but a character who is a huge fan of the books and a gentleman thief himself.
The series is brilliantly dubbed which I'm glad about as I don't mind dubbed shows as well as subtitled ones too.
Omar Sy does a brilliant job as Assange Diop as he plans each step in getting his revenge for his father's death, as well as all his crimes.
In season three, he fakes his death and also rescues his mother from a gang of criminals.
It has the feel of the British crime show "Hustle" to it.
I will rate these two seasons, which season three does end on a cliffhanger, a score of 9/10.
It's well worth a watch.

REACHER SEASON 2

Last night, I finished watching season 2 of Reacher on Paramount+

This time, Jack Reacher is teamed up with the survivors of his former unit to investigate the murders of his fellow officers from his Special Investigative Unit, and to also stop the selling of rockets to foreign buyers by the government he works for.
Alan Ritchin is awesome as Reacher and he is a force to be reckoned with. he is one tough cookie.
The story was good as was the first season. I am looking forward to watching season 3, later this year.
I shall rate this series a score of 8/10.

BLACK PANTHER 2: WAKANDA FOREVER

This afternoon, we watched this 2022 Marvel superhero movie "Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever" on Disney+

It was incredibly long at 2 hours 43 minutes and it showed, it really did. My gawd it was boring as hell!
They made a lot of bad mistakes in this film including making Shuri as the new Black Panther in the last 30 minutes of the movie.
Letitia Wright as the new lead was pathetic, she has no leading qualities at all in her role as Shuri. she was bland as a piece of stale bread.
Florence Kasumba as Ayo was the only interesting character among them, she should have taken on the role of the Panther instead of Letitia.
The actress who played Riri Williams aka Ironheart was bloody annoying and had a potty mouth.
Namor is not the comic book Avenging Son of the Avengers comic book, he is in fact The king of Talokan, instead of Atlantis as he should have been, because DC's Aquaman has taken on the role as the leader of the underwater kingdom.
The story itself was utter rubbish and boring as heck.
I do not recommend this film at all.
They should have just recast T'Challa as the Black Panther.
I shall rate this a score of 4/10.

NEW WEBTOON

"Trailer Park Warlock, by Mattew J. Rainwater. It's a urban fantasy webcomic about the cases of the titular warlock, Jake Baker. Sometimes it's a wife concerced her husband was turned into a horse, sometimes it's a guy who got a whole Egyptian desert in his living room (pyramids and all) and Jake is the guy who solves that at a more budget-friendly price.

Aside from the great comedy, the story actually has a very well-developed magic system heavily inspired by guys like Alister Crowley and goes some really interesting places with it, discussing the nature of Magic, the wills of gods, the concept of destiny and free will. But also has a whole arc parodying the yu-gi-oh card game, a chapter about people using magic to tip the odds to their favorite baseball teams in increasingly more absurd ways and has snakes capable of using guns.
It's a legit great story and can be read on its entirety for free on Webtoon."

STAR TREK: PREDATOR

The First Predator to join Starfleet as a planetary specialist for tactical jungle warfare.

The crossover you never knew you wanted!
I would watch this!

POOR TWATS

Please, stop these shallow & offensive headlines where we know this is an absolute fantasy. We all know they both have nannies that take care of the Children and he has his own personal servants to look after him.

Stop this nonsense!
