This afternoon, we watched Scream VI on Prime Video for free.
I have been a huge fan of this franchise since the first movie came out at the cinema back in 1996!
Scream V was a good film, and we watched that earlier in the year but I did forget some of the characters who came back for this sequel, so I had to check out Wikipedia on who's who, etc.
This was a very good slasher horror movie where they changed a few things in the mythos by setting the story in New York and also having five Ghostface killers instead of the usual two or one.
I did guess who was the main killer was but not the motive so that was interesting.
Now onto the downside of this film, it's very slasher-knife porn as everyone seemed to get off on cutting each other and apart from the ones who died, the survivors who all got stabbed, shot, slashed seemed to heal very easy and quickly from their wounds, which was so unbelievable and stupid.
On to the good side of this which happened this year, and that's the lead actress in Melissa Barrera for standing up for the innocent people of Palestine back in Nov of this year and not backing down from being fired for her comments and support for Palestine and demanding a ceasefire as the Jewish firm Spyglass sacked her and said that she was being antisemitic, which she was not, and now the franchise has lost her, Jenna Ortega, and the director Christopher Landon who stood with her. WELL DONE!
The movie was quite good and I liked all the easter eggs and nods to the previous five movies in the franchise.
I shall rate this film a score of 6/10, it would have gotten a higher score if one or more of the main cast and survivors from the last movie had died, but alas they all survived to fight another day? except for the two main leads.
