PAZUZU

A bronze statuette of the Assyrian demon king Pazuzu dates back to around the 1st millennium BC from Assyria. In Assyrian mythology, Pazuzu ruled as the king of wind demons and was frequently depicted in their art through bronze statuettes and amulets, crafted from materials like terracotta, steatite, and jasper, throughout the 1st millennium BC. During this era, Pazuzu became associated with diverse beliefs and magical practices. The statuette’s top ring suggests its use either as a necklace or for hanging in homes, particularly near sleeping invalids. Currently, it is on display at the Louvre Museum in Paris.
