Last night, I watched this very funny comedy on Netflix.
Directed, Written, Produced, and Starring Bill Burr.
"Three best friends become fathers later in life and find themselves battling preschool principals, millennial CEOs, and anything created after 1987."
This movie is bloody funny but if you are easily offended and like to pretend that everything can be sanitised and pigeonholed away then you probably won't.
The humour is more about how ridiculous the world seems these days compared to what people like me grew up with.
Personally I found it laugh out loud funny, something original in a sea of mediocrity.
I have only ever seen Burr appear in a couple of things and I have never seen any of his stand up routines before but I will look out for them in the future.
But be warned, if you need your safe space and you have the feelings of a flowerpot man, then this film is not for you!
I shall rate this funny film a score of 9/10

THE GRAY RAVEN
Gray Raven is the most powerful mystic defender of his earth, ( Earth R) thats been around since written history, and some say answers to a higher power, basically a servant of the forces above, he is a spirit not an angel, (again is a character I created in high school so his alter ego is my name), he is also the owner of Bevan Incorporated, which the Bevan Motor company is a major part of ( great grandfather had a used car and farm implement dealership of that name) he mostly resides in Graysonville a city sitting on a major mystical nexus, fights evil both mystical and mortal, he is his worlds major magical hero, and master of the occult, has mystical samurai armor and swords when the need arises with the combat skill when needed, when his physical body is destroyed he is reduced to a spirit form till a new physical form of his original is formed, during this time he may appear as a spirit or possess others to communicate and interact with the mortal plan, but only able to use his powers at a weakened state, his skull cap is a mystic living metal that forms around his head like liquid when needed and give him all sorts of detection and foresight type powers, he owns a few specialized vehicles as well, images created on bing.....more to follow

MOLFAR
Molfars, also known as magicians, shamans, and healers among the Hutsul people of Western Ukraine, are known for their powerful work with the elements of nature, animals, and people.
The word ‘Molfar’ has developed a negative connotation, signifying black magic or witchcraft. For this reason, some who work in the field of healing and magic have preferred to avoid association with the term ‘Molfar’. In reality, true Molfars are not malevolent; they simply use their connection to nature and spirit to help heal people. Some of these people are still living and practicing in Western Ukraine.

PLAY DEAD
Last night, I watched this horror thriller on Prime Video.
The film stars Bailee Madison and Jerry O'Connell.
The film's plot follows Criminology student Chloe (Bailee Madison) who fakes her own death to break into a morgue in order to retrieve a piece of evidence that ties her younger brother to a crime gone wrong.
As a frightening game of cat and mouse ensues, Chloe will discover that the scariest thing about the morgue is not the dead, but the living. as she tries her best to avoid the evil monster of a Coroner (Jerry O'Connell) as she finds out the truth about the place and tries her best to survive the deadly place.
Jerry oozes the essence of American Psycho's Patrick Bateman in a brilliant role as the Coroner.
This is actually a good thriller but I do think the brother was a tad bit stupid, which I think he was meant to be.
I shall rate this a decent score of 6/10.

MOUSE TRAP
At 7am this morning, I was woken up to a large clatter as the Critter Trap caught a sweet and beautiful Field Mouse looking for food, he did find a bit of Candy's Bounty sweet inside the Trap Box.
Candy is going to let it out back in the field this morning. I think she wants to keep him as a new pet, but we can't I'm afraid.

LEO
This afternoon, we watched this animated musical comedy film on Netflix.
"The last year of elementary school as seen through the eyes of a class pet. A jaded 74-year-old lizard named Leo has been stuck in the same Florida classroom for decades with his turtle terrarium-mate. When he learns that he only has one year left to live, he plans to escape to experience life on the outside, but instead gets caught up in his anxious students' problems, and ends up helping each student as they find out he can speak and they all form a nice bond of friendship"
This movie is great for the whole family. It is relatable to kids and adults. The music may not be like some Disney movies, but each song is original, entertaining, and not overly drawn out or overdone. The movie tries to incorporate current topics, trends and technology. It incorporates multicultural, ethnic and generational aspects. It also brings to light many issues that may be sensitive to kids of all ages. This includes issues like bullying, class clowns, popularity, ADHD, where do babies come from, etc. The kid actors do a nice job, including the singing. The movie is a little long compared to many animated movies (1hr42mins), but it's okay since the movie keeps you engaged from start to finish.
This is such a sweet, warm hearted film that not only is it funny but it's also a lovely movie.
I shall rate this a score of 9/10.

DOCTOR WHO: THE STAR BEAST
Yesterday lunchtime, my wife and I watched the first of the 60th anniversary specials for Doctor Who, titled “The Star Beast” which was loosely based off a comic strip from Pat Mills and Dave Gibbons in Doctor Who Weekly magazine from 1979 starring the 4th Doctor (Tom Baker) but this time starring in his first appearance of the 14th Doctor (David Tennant). And that is one point I disliked with this, knowing that the Meep was the bad guy, just because he was cute and furry looking does not mean that he was an evil sod.
The story itself was not worthy of being a 60th anniversary special and it felt like a mild early story of the 10th Doctor.
I do not like that the 14th incarnation of the Doctor is pretty much the same as his 10th version, even down with the annoying “What..What..What” rubbish quote that everyone was saying.
The special effects of the Meep (a deranged Furby) were very bad CGI and why was he not called Beep the Meep?
The characters acted like clowns and fools throughout the episode, and we even had characters who didn't seemed fazed by anything. This includes Donna's husband who had never met the Doctor before and yet acted like the whole thing was a big game, even cracking a joke while witnessing his wife and daughter regenerating out the time-lord
consciousness... is he not concerned as to what's happening? They have even emasculated his character by making him a weak man, but yet again, another problem with RTD.
Nobody seemed bothered by the life-threatening battle going on in the street and the Noble’s house between the aliens and U.N.I.T. soldiers. Also, that kid watching from his window would have been filming the whole thing with his camera phone!
And the rapid magical repair of London as the fissures opened up and nobody died or got injured made no sense whatsoever.
We meet Shirley Bingham, U.N.I.T.’s new scientific advisor who is in a cool gadget filled wheelchair and she gets sent to a steelwork factory which I imagine would be full of obstacles and completely impractical for someone with a disability, as we see when she is left by the troops for being unable to climb stairs. Where is the logic for an advanced military organisation to send her... she could have been utilised as a smart character calling the shots from an office or something, so her presence felt forced.
The sonic screwdriver is now all powerful and can make forcefields out of thin air and make visual computer monitors as well. I remember the good old days when the sonic was just used as a tool, and now it’s a MacGuffin that can do just about anything.
Doctor Who has now entered the Panderverse with RTD as showrunner as he has already destroyed the classic villain Davros by getting rid of his disability and changing his past/future as he wanted him not to be represented as a bad guy and in a wheelchair! Any fan of this show knows that Davros was never even in a wheelchair but a life-support Dalek base unit, but WTF, let’s not upset people, shall we? Not a single disabled fan has ever been upset by Davros as he is a cool bad guy, but I digress here as we have the son/daughter of Donna Noble in transexual Rose, who just had utterly emotionless reactions to every single thing that happened. They were forced on to the viewers to make things appear normal as inclusivity is now part of Doctor Who and it is overdone, one way to piss off the fans! The low point has to be asking an alien life form what its pronouns are and getting an answer!
With the new look U.N.I.T, they must have been given a huge budget boost by the government as in Whittaker’s time as the Doctor, they were disbanded due to lack of funds. They do however look like rejects from Judge Dredd, with that sinister looking jackbooted black armour they are all wearing! Major Singh of U.N.I.T. should have yelled just before the battle with the Wrarth Warriors “Sikh and Destroy”.
The return of Tennant and Tate did not seem special to me and they are not my favourite duo of Timelord and Companion in the series. However, this episode was undoubtedly an improvement on Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor Who, but only marginally.
Question - Who in their right mind eats Tuna Madras?
Anyway, a bit of a meh episode and it only raked in 5.1 million viewers compared to the 50th anniversary back in 2013 which raked in 13.1 million viewers.
I shall rate this (un)special a score of 5/10.

FIFTY/FIFTY
Last night, I watched this action adventure buddy comedy film from 1992 on Prime Video.
The movie stars Peter Weller and Robert Hays as two operatives who form a begrudging alliance to overthrow a Southeast Asian dictator on behalf of the CIA. The two men will have to overcome their rivalry and become something they never thought they would be: Heroes.
This was a rollocking good action adventure film with great humour from Hays (Airplane) and smooth action from Weller.
I've never heard of this film before watching it last night, some reason, I missed out on this on VHS back in the day.
I really enjoyed it and I will watch it again.
I shall rate this flick a score of 8/10.

ANNIVERSARY OF A BRITISH LEGEND
Today is the anniversary of the passing of the legendary actor Lewis Collins. (27 May 1946 – 27 November 2013)
He was most famously known for playing the character of Bodie in The Professionals.

LADY OF THE LAKE
In combat with another knight Arthur breaks the sword that he pulled from the stone. Merlin takes him to a lake where a hand rises from the water holding Excalibur, the sword that the Lady of the Lake has been keeping for him.
The Lady of the Lake, also known as Viviane or Nimuë, is an enchantress who lives in a castle beneath a lake surrounding the island of Avalon. According to legend, she is most famous for giving Arthur the magical sword Excalibur, for fostering Sir Lancelot after his father’s death and for imprisoning Merlin in a tree. She has been associated with a Celtic goddess and with stories of water fairies and her story may have combined several stories about ladies of lakes. She is mentioned in old French poems in the 12th century and in a French prose cycle of Arthur stories in the 13th century.

THE FIVE DOCTORS
As I've not yet watched the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who, which I will watch this afternoon while I have lunch with the wife, I decided to watch the 20th anniversary special last night "The Five Doctors" from 1983.
Peter Davison (5th Doctor) was my Doctor as I only came into watching the show with Tom Baker's final story, so with Davison, he was my first and I knew the actor from other shows I watched as a child like "All Creatures Great and Small."
This story reunites the first five actors to play the Doctor with the exception of the first actor to play the Doctor, as William Hartnell passed away in 1975, so his part was played by a look alike actor Richard Hurndall who sadly passed away in 1984. But he did a good job as the First Doctor. Plus Tom Baker (The 4th Doctor) declined to appear in the story, so archive footage was used from an unaired story "Shada" so the character appeared very briefly.
So really, it was a four Doctor story with a number of various companions helping out.
You had Tegan and Turlough (5th Doctor), Sarah Jane with the (3rd Doctor), Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart (2nd Doctor), and his granddaughter Susan with the (1st Doctor). With the Master playing an antihero with his own nefarious plans.
The story itself was really good as the Doctors all end up being trapped in a game of being hunted in the Death Zone on the planet Gallifrey. The foes include a single Dalek, a squadron of Cybermen, a Yeti android, Raston Warrior Robot, and a sinister Timelord with plans for Immortality.
This was an enjoyable adventure and lots of fun.
I shall rate this story a score of 9/10.

THE TIME MEDDLER
Last night, I watched this classic Doctor Who story from Season 2 starring William Hartnell as the First Doctor with his two companions Vicki and Steven.
The story is from 1965 and I have not seen most of the First Doctor's stories.
This was a fun romp set in the year 1066 in Northumbria, UK and featuring the renegade Time Lord "The Meddling Monk" and also featuring Vikings and Saxons.
I actually enjoyed this story and I will be getting around to watching all the other adventures in all the incarnations of the Doctor.
This version was part of the Tales of the TARDIS series and featuring the actors who played Vicki and Steven (Maureen O'Brien and Peter Purves) as they meet up in the Memory TARDIS and they discuss the story and you get to see the full length adventure.
I shall rate this story a score of 7/10.

THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BANZAI ACROSS THE 8TH DIMENSION
Last night, I watched "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension" a 1984 science fiction action comedy on Prime Video. This is actually the first time I've ever seen this cult classic.
I know it did not do well at the box office but I thought it was ahead of it's time. they should have made a series instead I think.
The cast were brilliant and OTT in their roles.
I know the film spawned books, comics, etc as the proposed sequel never happened.
I actually liked this but the other half hated it and ignored it.
I shall rate this movie a score of 6/10.

THE OLD WORDS
“We need to teach the children the old words,
words like brabble and grubble,
twitter-light and clinkerbell;
words which dance and trip and slip
and drip like honey off the tongue
Teach them that a hazy halo of cloud
around the moon is called a moonbroch
and that swiftly moving clouds are named
cairies;
how a vixen’s wedding is a sunny shower of
rain, and that a single sunbeam breaking through thick cloud is known as a messenger
Teach them to know the seasons and scents
of queen of the meadow and bride of the sun,
how to tell Jupiter’s staff from fairy fingers
and which roses bloom with the strawberry moon
Teach them to spot pricklebacks in the tottlegrass,
how to recognise a smeuse or a bishop-barnaby,
when to watch the sky for flittermice and yaffles,
and to pay attention to the dumbeldore and mousearnickle
as she graces the lazy leahs of summer
Teach them a few of the old Sussex words for mud,
like gubber and slub and stodge and pug,
so they know that the precious soil beneath their toes
is anything but worthless dirt
Teach them to be users and keepers and makers
of the words which bring the land alive:
a storybook, where everything has its rightful place, including us;
where the wilds are fearful and filled with magic
and people do noble things, and nothing is impossible
In this world of harsh new words —
words like planetary dysmorphia and solastalgia,
extinction debt and grief mitigation,
megadrought and megafire,
anthropogenic, pyrocene,
words which alarm and get stuck in our throats
describing a world which our hearts cannot grasp —
we need to teach the children the old words,
so that if they should feel lost,
the old words might colour for them
a warm and breathing, living map,
a light to guide them safely home.”

SURVIVING THIS LIFE
I have almost died several times in the last few years (2012, 2013, and 2020)
I was awake and I heard both of my legs being cut off, felt the pain, and I also saw the remains of my left leg being carried in a plastic bag by a nurse who came into the recovery ward and had to be rushed out when they realised that I could see what was going on and I was getting stressed out by it.
I have had memory loss from the number of seizures I've had.
I have had a number of heart attacks as well.
I suffered from a broken back that healed itself.
And unfortunately and shamefully, I have had suicidal thoughts since losing my legs.
And I am still here, being depressed at times, grumpy as well, but I am alive and still fighting the good fight.

DOCTOR WHO'S COMPANION
Frobisher is a fictional character who appeared in the Doctor Who Magazine comic strip based on the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who.
He was a companion of the 6th and 7th Doctors.
Frobisher is a Whifferdill, one of a shape-changing extraterrestrial race.
What is assumed to be his natural form, as seen in his first comic strip appearance, is humanoid, pale yellow in color, three to four feet in height, with a round, featureless head, and wearing spectacles. However, he preferred to spend his free time in the form of a penguin

JACK FROST
Little Jack Frost walked through the trees

THE TANK
Last night, I watched this New Zealand creature feature horror movie on Shudder.
In 1978, a young family mysteriously inherits an abandoned coastal property, The male lead accidentally unleashes a number of ancient, long-dormant creatures from an old water tank that terrorised the entire region-including his own ancestors-for generations.
The film does start off a bit slow but it is setting up the background mystery and the main characters, but with the third act, you get to see the creatures in their full beauty, which are made with practical effects.
There is a lot of action in the end part of the film which reminds me of Ripley from Aliens (You will know what I mean when you watch it) Plus for you blood and guts fans, there is aplenty!
Stay watching until after the mid credits as there is a nice sequence added to the end.
I did not know any of the cast, but they did a good job in their roles.
I shall rate this horror a score of 8/10.
