THE ORDER OF THE GOLEM GALLANTRY

The Order of the Golem Gallantry are a group of ancient templar who have dedicated themselves to the oath of upholding the law of their kingdom. Originally an order of several thousand members, the knights defended their kingdom by any means necessary. When an undead army was led into the hearts of their land the (then just "order of gallantry") suffered great losses at the hands of the evil necromancer and their army. They elected to find a way to even the playing field against the undead. They noticed that the golems in service to their order tended to fair better than their fleshy brethren and so a large contingent opted to have golem parts magically attached to themselves in order to prolong their ability to battle.
Any injury to the flesh these knights took was instantly healed, replacing their flesh with arcane animated construct. As the war raged on their wounds grew and grew and slowly each individual knight of the order began to be more golem than humanoid. The great war ended when an allied neighbouring kingdom dropped manabombs on the lands, rendering all arcanely animated subjects entirely immobile.
That was millenia ago now. Since then many of the Golem knights have been either buried where they fell, in crypts fighting undead, or been relocated by plunderers who assumed them to be statues. Every now and then a golem knight will be reactivated, often because they are in the presence of a spellcaster whose use of magic reignites the spellweave allowing their construct cores to replenish lost energies. After several millenia tormented by watching and not being able to act, many of the Order of Golem Gallant Templar have gone categorically insane. Some of them have sworn to destroy all magic users, others have reverted to close minded programming like real golems, seeking to "protect the kingdom (now completely forgotten) from invaders" meaning everyone is a target.
Once activated, the Golem Gallant is a formidable foe, a supreme construct immune to many forms of attack and magic, but also an immaculately trained holy warrior exacting an unyielding jihad on all who exist.
