AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER

This afternoon, we finished watching this action adventure fantasy series on Netflix, which is based off the animated series of the same name "Avatar: The Last Airbender" Over the last 8 days at lunchtime, we have watched an episode and it has been brilliant.

"The series is set in a war-torn world inspired by various Asian and Indigenous cultures where certain people can "bend" one of the four classical elements—water, earth, fire or air. Aang, the "Avatar" and the last living Airbender, is the bridge between the mortal and spirit worlds, and the only one capable of bending all four of the elements instead of just one. The Avatar maintains the balance of the world and nature to bring peace, and Aang is now faced with the responsibility of ending the ambitions of the militaristic Fire Nation to conquer the world. With his new companions Katara and Sokka, Aang sets out to master the four elements while pursued by Zuko, the exiled crown prince of the Fire Nation, who seeks to regain his honour by capturing him."

They have done a damn good job at telling the story and extracting the essence and spirit of the original show by adapting the first season of the animated series. The visuals are stunning and the cast are all fitting in their roles. It really is like watching live action animated characters come alive.
The fighting scenes are all amazing and the bending looks so powerful and devasting in the battles.
The show most definitely does not deserve the mixed reception and reviews it has had, It is 100% better than the movie adaption from 2010.
Watching this series has brought a nostalgic tear to my eyes, as we have only seen the animated series up to the half way point of season 2 due to the TV schedules at the time.
Seeing Appa the SkyBison and MoMo has been wonderful as well, and I wish they were featured a lot more but due to a budget for the CGI, I can understand why they don't.
I really hope we will get a second season of this live action show as I can't wait to meet the blind Earthbender Toph!
I shall rate this Netflix series a score of 10/10.
We will now watch the animated series from the very beginning next.
