THE GREEN MAN

Over the years I've often been asked who the Green Man is. The Green man is a representative of the male aspect of the divine and probably evolved from the ancient horned god of the hunt. He is sometimes known as the Wild Man or Jack in the Green. He represents reincarnation, the changing seasons, fertility and abundance. He can be seen as having two alter egos - the Oak King and the Holly King. The Oak King is the Summer variant and the Holly King is the winter variant. He has been revered in Pagan paths since time immemorial. He can be seen as the equal, yet opposite, of Gaia, the earth goddess.
