This is the photo of my right stump, the troublemaker of the two as I need an intense session with this one to remove a lot of the hyperkeratosis hard skin that ended up on the floor as you can see in the second photo.
If you don't know what Hyperkeratosis is, it's an increase growth of skin upon skin upon skin. It happens on area of skin damage, it's slightly different from eczema but similar to psoriasis. I have suffered from this for the last 14 years on both my legs/stumps but on my right stump it has gotten worse over the years.
The district nurses could and would not even touch it and the private carers did not have any experience in dealing with this.
So Candy, who has medical knowledge and experience, deals with this professionally.
It's painful to deal with and it's also hard on my back and hips being in that position, on the edge of my wheelchair as it's being cleaned, but as I am a stubborn geezer and I can just about handle it without crying out loud, well maybe only in my head then! Sigh!
