This afternoon, we finished watching this really awesome British supernatural fantasy mystery series on Netflix.
It's based on the first two YA books of the same franchise and is written by fantasy author Jonathan Stroud, and adapted to TV by Joe Cornish (Attack the Block).
It's about a trio of teenage ghosthunters with psychic abilities based in London, UK.
England has been under siege for decades now by ghosts. that their touch can kill and there is a huge conspiracy behind it all.
The actors are all really good in their roles and there are quite a few funny moments in the series with decent special effects throughout.
The lead character Lockwood has a flair of Sherlock Holmes about him, which is good and the sword fighting scenes are actually quite good. The alternate history of this universe is fascinating and by the end of the first series, there are a lot more questions left behind then answers. Look out for the fabulous nod to Raiders of the Lost Ark at the end climax of episode 8.
I shall rate this series a score of 9/10 and I now want to read the books. Hopefully this will get a second series next year.
