I finally finished watching The Sandman last night on Netflix.
It is an awesome dark fantasy series that is based on the comic book of the same name.
I have never ever read the comic book series as when I was young, I was never a fan of the Vertigo imprint of DC comics.
However, I did actually buy the very first issue for £20. for an employee of mine - Kurt the Vegan Hippie, who worked for me when I was a manager of Forbidden Planet Milton Keynes, He could not afford it and he was a very hard worker and I had the cash, so why not?
Tom Sturridge is mesmerising as Lord Morpheus/Dream. and the rest of the cast was filled with top notch British (mostly) actors.
The series is split into two stories with an ongoing storyline in the background.
I only have two gripes with the series and that is about two characters.
I'm not a huge fan of Jenna Coleman (Johanna Constantine) as I find her annoying, like I did in Doctor Who. I don't like the fact they changed Constantine to a Female and more so that they got rid of the Liverpudlian accent and getting rid of the smoking! Both of these are part of the character as well as Constantine having cancer.
I am also not keen on changing the skin colour for the TV Death. as she was perfect as the epitome Goth, pale white skin and black hair. Plus the look of Death was actually based on a real person. (Cinamon Hadley).
These are my two gripes on a fairly decent series.
I am looking forward to watching season 2 when it get's made.
I will rate this series a score of 9/10.
