Last night, I watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, an animated reboot movie on Prime Video.
I was unsure about watching this for a number of reasons, 1/ I cannot stand Nickelodeon animation. 2/ I don't like that they changed April O'Neil to a black teenager. 3/ The animation looked rubbish.
Anyway, I thought what the hell, I would give it a go and, well. I did enjoy it. But I will stand by my initial thoughts in regards to my concerns.
The animation was a cross between stop-motion and CGI style which was odd but I got use to it in the end.
I still dislike a black teenage April, which goes against everything in canon.
But the story was actually good, introducing many mutant characters from previous comic, cartoons, and RPG's.
The voice performers were quite good and Splinter was voiced by the legend that is Jackie Chan! He even taught the toddler Turtles in a flashback scene, martial arts by showing them Jackie Chan movies.
The humour was good and the teenage aspect of the characters were portrayed really well.
It had a lot of nods to Spider-Man which I liked.
Anywhoo, good film and worth a watch if you're a fan of the TMNT.
I shall rate this film a score of 8/10.
