Cryptids are public domain, and might be a better way to fill out a rogues gallery for some heroes with few villains.
The Jersey Devil could be great for a new York super hero to fight, as the character could visit New Jersey for a vacation only to find themself having to contend with the monster.
The Raven(Ace) could be a good choice.

The Wendigo would be a foe to contend with for anyone, but given its ties to Native American mythology, a Native American super hero would probably be the best option.
I'd go with Bronze Terror.

The Owlman is unique in this list as he's the only one situated in Britain. Somewhat fittingly, many British heroes were of the aviator varietiy, which contrasts with the Owlman who can fly.
Black Angel could be fun to pit against this cryptid.

The Goatman of Maryland is an especially odd cryptid, that can be summed up in a question we all need to ask ourselves: What if a satyr was an axe murderer? His modus operandi would contrast well with a non powered vigilante, serving as a stand in for a slasher style villain.
Nightmare and Sleepy could be good choices.

Ending with my favorite cryptid: Mothman! Mothman is, depending on who you ask, is either a harbinger of doom or a creatue that tries to warn people before catastrophe strikes. Pitting him against a detective type character who has to figure out what's about to go wrong when Mothman shows up is the plot is most likely use.
Maybe Black Bat vs Mothman.
