1 August 2013
This is the (REAL) Jason Louis updating for a change, Candy will be back on here reporting for me later.
Well as Candy reported earlier I had some bad news from the Doctor which made me very emotional, and I was hoping for some support and reassurance from Sharon Bateman who is my Wound Care Nurse and the only one who has been treating “Mavis” and my left leg. But she already knew about my possible future situation and agrees with the diagnosis of the Doctor and the amputation of my left leg. Even if it was completely against everything she has said to Candy and I before, she now thinks I will be better off with two stumps instead of having my left leg being healed.
I admit that I would be lying if I said I’m happy with all of this as I am completely scared shitless and I don’t know if I could cope with no legs, despite Candy saying I’m strong and I can do it with her help.
I really am at a loss on what to do, my mind is going in all directions and I am seriously close to breaking down in tears.
This has not been a good day.

· This is Candy writing now.
Ok the results of Jason's x-ray came back and they said all was good, ha! Turns out despite two Docs saying everythings great, it's actually NOT!
Came in this morning and could tell from Jay' face something was up, he had his catheter out yesterday, so I thought ok, he's been told it has to go back in! But no he's peeing fine. Turns out Jason's Surgeon, the one who never operated on him and hasn't seen him since the second week, had checked out the x-ray (now we knew there was a thinning of the bone in his left foot due to infection from the Diabetic Ulcer but it should be treatable,) and has decided that as far as he's concerned there's no point trying to save his foot and wants to chop off his left leg at the same height as the other one! Now this was at 7.45am and I don't get in till 8.10am so poor Jason had to have this ill mannered tool tell him this and then bugger off! If I had've been there, I would have torn half a dozen strips off him for being a rude idiot! But the Sister, who's nice had a word with Jason as she could see he was devastated! I could have swung for him I could!
See we knew there is a thinning of the main bone, but they decided he didn't need an MRI, know they do want him to have one as they don't actually know what's going on in there. There is the option to root around in there and see what's likely to heal and what needs removing (infected or dead bone), but when Jason asked this idiot said 'Oh I wouldn't bother, I'd only end up taking out the middle bone and then you'd have a big hole in your foot and you couldn't use it, so it'll come off like the other one!' Jason asked why so high, 'oh there's no point leaving any lymphedema there!'
Now for starters, this is NOT going to happen! Wound care are impressed with Jason's healing and she thinks so far(seeing her after 1pm so we'll see) it should heal. Plus they don't KNOW if the infection is still there, what condition the bone is in, and I asked Sister well can't you go in and take a sample to test and find out what bugs are in there? Yes you could but he wouldn't do that (the surgeon), he'd want to go in and take bits out and then get it tested, (which he already said he wouldn't bother and would just lop off the lot anyway, what a complete moron!). Plus you can do bone grafts, bone WILL grow over spaces, like in leg lengthening surgery, there are structures you can put in and add bone cells to to regrow over as well. I don't care if it's cutting edge surgery or costs more but he's getting the best treatment and it doesn't include losing his left leg. He really doesn't think he can carry on if that happens and you know how strong he is!
But to distract him, he's off to physio for his second session, which he enjoys, plus he's shown off to two of his fave nurses in his wheelchair, creeping up behind them! Plus he gets into it all by himself, really well, not like that horrible commode!
Sorry that's a lot of crappy news but like I said, me n the Doc, we'll be having words! Keep you updated. Very determined Candy.
