Yesterday, December 20th, marks the beginning of the Yuletide season! Modraniht, known as Mother Night, a Germanic/Norse Winter solstice tradition, kicks off the 12 days of Yule and honors the disir, our ancestral mothers and female spirits. She is the dark goddess who holds us at our beginnings and endings. She could be Frigga, Freyja, the Crone or nameless. So fire up your Yule logs! Tonight will be the longest night of the year and tomorrow will be the shortest day of the year. Many blessings to all as we begin the magickal season of Yule. 🌲
