This evening before the Midnight celebrations, I spent it with Nicholas Cage watching this Neo-Noir Revenge Thriller on Amazon Prime.
A story of murder, betrayal, revenge and redemption with a former hitman, crooked cops, gangsters, and a femme Fatale in a deadly encounter and shoot-out in an old abandoned hotel in Colombia.
It was a very odd and strange movie with the highlight being Nicholas Cage!
It was not one of his best but it was worth watching at least once in your lifetime.
I liked it and I thought this film deserves a score of 6/10.
This afternoon, we watched this 2019 Christmas fantasy rom-com movie on Netflix.
"A medieval English knight is magically transported to present-day Ohio, where he falls for a high school science teacher who is disillusioned by love."
It is a good film and very fluffy and charming with a decent cast of actors and writing.
It is a Hallmark movie only in style but not in name as it's a Netflix original film.
It's what we need is some hope, love, and sweetness at Christmas time.
I will rate this fantasy flick a score of 7/10.
Last night I finished watching season 1 of Star Trek: Prodigy on Paramount+
It does cater slightly for a younger audience, but it's quite good and action packed with a decent story arc and I prefer this to the other animated series of "Lower Decks" which I found to be very boring and unfunny.
If you a Trekkie, you should like this series, don't be put off by the animation.
The characters actually grow throughout the 20 episode season and they achieve a lot as a crew of young Starfleet officers.
I thought adding Captain Janeway as the Hologram and as the Vice-Admiral was a neat touch, and this has been the first time that I actually liked her character.
The U.S.S. Protostar is a very neat starship as is the massive U.S.S. Dauntless, commanded by Janeway.
It was really good to actually see alien characters instead of your standard looking humanoid ones with nose ridges. But that is one of the benefits of animation based shows.
I was very impressed by this series and I an looking forward to season 2 as the crew go on a Search for Chakotay!
I will rate this series a score of 7/10.
I wish I had Robot helpers or even yet, I get turned into a fully functional Cyborg. To be able to walk again with cybernetic legs would be wonderful.
This afternoon, we watched this action comedy on Amazon Prime, It's the sequel to the first film and is loosely based off the comic strip of the same name in the British comic called Toxic! from 1991 by Pat Mills.
The premise is that "Mike Fallon, aka The Accident Man (Scott Adkins), is back and this time he must best the top assassins in the world, to protect the ungrateful son of a mafia boss, save the life of his only friend and rekindle his relationship with his maniacal father figure (Ray Stevenson).
The movie is full of OTT action, fight scenes, wacky bad guys, humour, and heart.
It even has a nice nod to The Pink Panther with one of the characters. You will know what I mean when you watch it.
Scott Adkins acting ability has gotten better over the years as his martial arts skills, and that has made me enjoy his films a lot more in recent years.
I really loved this film as I did the first film and for that, I will rate this movie a personal score of 10/10.
Last night I watched Hitman: Redemption (as it's known in the UK) on Freevee.
The cast is good but the story has been done to death. Aging Hitman who falls in love must leave his job as a killer and redeem himself.
The movie was alright but not very good, I was actually bored with most of the time, which is a shame as I do like Ron Pearlman.
I will score this film, a rating of 4/10.

Yesterday, I finished watching this Christmas fantasy comedy series which is a spin-off from the movie franchise.
It is not that great, I loved the trilogy of films, but this series is lacking the charm and heart of them.
The Christmas Elves are now played by Disney-Bred Children, that the company seems to push out like a cloning factory.
Tim Allen seems to have lost his Christmas Spirit as Santa Claus, not only in his character role, but also in his acting.
Kal Penn, who I normally like, is completely wasted as the "bad guy" and there is one annoying elf in this that did my noodle in.
Overall, I shall rate this series a score of 5/10.
Hopefully the second season will be better, hopefully.

I've just finished watching this 2022 American computer-animated science-fiction adventure film on Disney+
The film stars the voices of Jake Gyllenhaal, Dennis Quaid, Jaboukie Young-White, Gabrielle Union, and Lucy Liu.
It's quite a good action flick with elements of pulp action B-movies and it works well with a lot of strange looking creatures including the token cute sidekick creature and a three-legged dog.
The technology was very steampunk-ish, which I loved and the story was alright but there was something missing from the whole experience.
I shall rate this film a score of 7/10, as I will watch this again later on with my partner.

She grows to like a shepherd named Lel, but her heart is unable to know love. Her mother takes pity and gives her this ability, but as soon as she falls in love, her heart warms and she melts. This version of the story was made into a play The Snow Maiden by Aleksandr Ostrovsky, with incidental music by Tchaikovsky
In another version, childless Russian peasants Ivan and Marya made a snow doll, which came to life. Snegurka grows up quickly. A group of girls invite her for a walk in the woods, after which they make a small fire and take turns leaping over it. When Snegurka's turn comes, she starts to jump, but only gets halfway before evaporating into a small cloud.
Last Night, I watched Slash Back on Amazon Prime. A 2022 Canadian Inuit science fiction film directed by Nyla Innuksuk in her feature debut.
"When Maika and her ragtag friends discover an alien invasion in their tiny arctic hamlet, it's up to them to save the day. Utilizing their makeshift weapons and horror movie knowledge, the aliens realize you don't mess with girls from Pang."
It became the first production to film in the Inuit hamlet of Pangnirtung. Acting workshops were setup to find local girls to star in the film, and they all did a wonderful job in their roles of the main characters.
The cinematography is amazing as was the special effects, being filmed during the daylight helped the film a lot and the movie had a definite "The Thing" vibe to it.
I will score this horror action flick a rating of 8/10.

Personality: Jingle is a cheery and joyful old fellow, who loves celebrating Christmas with family and friends. He is always ready to spread good cheer and holiday spirit everywhere he goes.
Description of appearance: Jingle looks like your typical elderly man, with white hair receding from his head, wrinkles lightly around his eyes, but still a twinkle in them that shows his fondness for the holiday season. I requested a Christmas meal for both Candy and I on the Great Ayton Facebook group as we would not be able to cook one ourselves for various reasons, we were not expecting to get anything for free as I just wanted advice as I thought Candy would have been in hospital around this time but she was not.
A number of nice villagers contacted me that they would cook a lot of food at this time of the year and offered to give us a free meal as we need to look after each other as a community should.
So, this very kind lady named Elaine and her son came over this afternoon with a large box of cooked food and we just warmed it up in our oven. We thanked them and they will come over tomorrow to pick up their plates.
The food we bloody awesome and very tasty! I've not had home cooked Christmas food in years. Too be honest, I've not eaten a home made Yorkshire Pudding since my Mum was alive, which is way over 20 years ago.
It was very nice of her and we were very thankful.
On Wednesday, we went shopping to Middlesbrough and had a very good time.
The taxu driver offered to help us get a second hand former taxi car for us both as we need a wheelchair car.
Candy was all up for it and thought it was a great idea for us to have a wheelchair car and we can travel around, even travel to
back down to visit Milton keynes.
