I just recalled that in the early 80's we had installed Bomb Sirens in various schools and estates, to warn us if WW3 started.
Kids today do not understand the terrors that we went through as children.
The dual threats of an Atomic Bomb going off, and the IRA attacking us.
I remember that our shopping centre often had bomb scares phoned in from the IRA, and the place often was evacuated.
When I was Asst. Manager of Forbidden Planet, we had to search our store as a threat was phoned in and all shopping units had to search their own stores.
We never had or needed a "Safe Space", we just got on with life and coped with a dark sense of humour.
