TURNPIKE!

TURNPIKE! The turnpike keepers cottage was built in 1839 in Gothic revival style for the Chard Turnpike Trust. Located on the A30, Snowdon Hill, Chard, Somerset. Take a closer look in the doorway. The keepers job was to collect the tolls from those who passed by.

Toll keepers were sometimes know as ‘pikemen’ (no not the Pikemen of the Civil War), and even though of the lowly classes, they were entrusted with much cash from the daily tolls.
A beautiful relic of our rural past and not a lot has changed from then until now...

AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER SEASON ONE

Yesterday afternoon, we finished watching the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix.

We have seen this series before, but years ago on CITV, so we have forgotten a few episodes, we have recently watched the live action series of this season and noticed what they added and removed from that show, which was interesting plot wise.
We do love this show and have now started on season two.
I will rate this show a score of 8/10.
I do highly recommend watching this series if you liked the live action show.

TOMBMATES

I love this concept, it would make a great story!

CAT POUCH

Did you know that our cats belly flaps have nothing to do with fat?

🧐
It is actually loose skin which is called "primordial pouch", and is there as heritage from the felines ancestors.
The primordial pouch serves three interesting purposes:
1. Protection: This extra skin acts as a shield of protection for vital organs located in this region. And it can be very useful during a fight, especially since cats tend to turn belly-up at some moments in the fight, using their hind legs to kick their opponent.
2. Flexibility: Excess skin in this area allows the belly to stretch more and facilitate the necessary movements during jumps and runs.
3. Abdominal Expansion: The primordial pouch also helps expand the abdomen, allowing cats to store large quantities of food. Of course, this function is more useful in nature for wild cats, where they can stay several days without finding a potential hunt. When they do finally find food, it's better that they are able to ingest large volumes of it... ❤ ❤ ❤

GHILLIE DHU

In Scottish folklore, the Ghillie Dhu is a mysterious and reclusive creature believed to inhabit the dense forests of the Highlands. Described as a solitary and shy being, the Ghillie Dhu is often depicted as a tall, lean figure with wild hair and skin the color of moss, allowing it to blend seamlessly into its woodland surroundings.

Legend has it that the Ghillie Dhu has a deep connection with nature and serves as a guardian spirit of the forest. It is said to be particularly protective of children, often appearing to lost or distressed youngsters in the woods and guiding them safely back to their homes.
Despite its elusive nature, the Ghillie Dhu is known for its gentle demeanor and benevolent intentions. It is said to possess magical powers, able to vanish into thin air or camouflage itself completely when threatened.
Although sightings of the Ghillie Dhu are rare and largely confined to local folklore, its presence continues to captivate the imaginations of those who believe in the magic and mystery of Scotland's ancient woodlands.
