MY FIRST FORBIDDEN PLANET

29 year ago today, when I was nearly 18 yrs old,
I started my job as the Assistant Manager of Forbidden Planet (Milton Keynes).
Damn I feel really old now.

THE UK IS HEADING THIS WAY UNDER THE RULE OF THE TORIES

TRUE MEMOIRES OF AN INTERNATIONAL ASSASSIN

I watched this action comedy on Netflix last night.
I'm not really a fan of Kevin James, but he was alright.
It was quite a good film and funny as well.
Rate this movie a 6/10.

BODYGUARD

OMG! I know I'm a couple of years late in seeing this series but I've binge-watched all 6 episodes yesterday on Netflix, and I was sitting on the edge of my wheelchair as it was exciting.
Fantastic acting, writing, stunts, and actiong.
I highly recommend watching this series if you've not already seen it.
I rate each episode a 10/10.

SPACED

I binge-watched the whole of this British 1999 comedy series last night.
I've never seen it before apart from a few clips.
I really loved it and I can see the links to the movie "Shaun of the Dead."
I would love to buy the DVD boxset for all the extras.
Rate the series a 10/10.

ANOTHER LIFE

I've watched this Netflix series over the last two nights and it was not that bad actually.
Interesting storyline and characters and the season 1 ending was a great cliffhanger.
I will rate this series a 7/10.

JIU-JITSU

We watched this terrible "martial arts/sci-fi" movie yesterday on Netflix, even as I've already ordered a DVD copy from Amazon (my mistake).
Anyway the trailer looked really good and the castlist were quality, but OMG it was horrendous.
It's a cross between Predator meets Mortal Kombat but without the special effects!
There was no actual jiu-jitsu in the film, Nick Cage was hardly in the film, and the storyline did not exist. lol
I don't know what to do with my DVD copy now!
I'm going to rate this film a 4/10, and it only got a 4 because of Frank Grillo and Nick Cage.
Do Not Watch This Film!

DESIGNATED SURVIVOR

For the last 10 days, I've been binge-watching all three seasons of the thriller series "Designated Survivor." on Netflix.
It has been really good and quite exciting. It's a cross between The West Wing and 24.
Damn good cast and writing, but it dipped in quality for it's third and final season, with added swearing and nudity among the cast.
I give a rating of 9/10 for season 1-2. and a poor rating of 6/10 for season 3.

THE SILENCE

We watched this horror movie earlier on Netflix.
I found this film to be far better than "A Quiet Place."
Good acting and storyline.
I give a rating of a 9/10.

SEVEN YEARS AGO BREAKING BACK

Hi folks, Candy here, just a quick update on the medical mystery that is Jason! So as Vicky mentioned, the "fractured vertabrae" has now disappeared, despite just having been measured for a brace before being told that he was ok! But he has now been transferred to the other Neurological ward (25), to be further investigated. He has had no more "seizures", as we are kinda calling them, although the general concensus is that it it's not. More likely a problem with either high blood pressure/heart, causing lack of oxygen to the brain and the result looks all intense purpose like a fit/seizure! So they want an EEG, to check brain function again- initial scans have been fine, and an ECG to monitor his heart function- maybe over 24hrs to give a good reference point. Being Bank Holiday weekend though all the Doctors are off scoffing easter eggs lazy buggers!!! So we will see how he is today and he will get seen again in the mornin to assess to see if he can come home for a couple of days then come back as an outpatient? The other thing is, as well as the big ones he's been having these "episodes" where he is not quite there!? Ok imagine talking to someone and you have their full attention and eye contact, then they kind of disengage, eyes start wandering around the room, talking almost mono-syllabic, but still there, just not quite how they are normally?! Hope that makes sense! So I've been told when this happens next, to get the nurses to visualise it too, take his full obs-Bp, O2 levels and blood sugar, and if I can, to video him, so that they can see the difference! Really feel they are taking me seriously on this ward and feel positive, so far! Jason, however, can't really remember much at all, he was aware of most of the things going on at the time - apart from the seizures themselves, but feels he's pretty much lost this week! He came in on the 15th. He's not happy about not being able to go home yet! He's a bit scared understandably, but more disgruntled at being here again! Missing home and missing all you guys too! Thanks for the wonderful wishes btw! He needs a bit of a lift. Anyway I'm under orders to go off and get his Lordship some lunch, so I will end this now. So thanks for reading and take care folks!! Candy.

NINE YEARS CLOSE TO DEATH

On this day nine years ago now 18th April 2012, I almost came close to dying. I collapsed at the kitchen table, I had just been sick and I felt dizzy. and then everything went all funky. I lost all control of my limbs, my neck went droopy and I could not lift my head up, my speech was very sluggish and I had trouble keeping my eyes open. My wife Candy quickly phoned the paramedics and when they arrived they discovered that my heart rate had dropped so much it was below 20. they strapped me up to their carrier board and carried me downstairs to the ambulance. It was raining and all I could do was mutter the words of 'Don't forget my Candy'. On the way to the hospital my heart rate was dropping even more, so much so that it needed defibrillating, All my organs were closing down, everything was failing on me and Candy was told to expect the worse just in case, I was knocking on death’s door to see if they had any room for me and I scared the shit out of my Candy because of it, She would not leave my side in the Hospital which I was grateful for. She even volunteered her kidney as mine was shutting down. It was a touch and go for 24 hours and I was pumped with a lot of drugs to bring me round and fix me up again. I was hooked up to so many wires and machines including a Dialysis machine. It was very scary and for the first few days I had no memory of what happened to me, all I could remember was when the ambulance crew arrived and they had to strap me to a board to carry me downstairs, all I was doing was apologising for being heavy. It turns out I had a massive infection from my lymphedema on my legs plus the medications I was taking was not doing my body any good and I had to have it all flushed out of my system. I was in Hospital for just 9 days and I made an amazing recovery which was noted by the Doctors and the Physiotherapist. I got better but I always remember the date that I almost died. And then a year later I ended up back in the hospital when I lost both my legs, but that is another tale to tell for a later date. Interesting times! ❤

CURSED

I have binge watched this Netflix series which is very loosely based on the King Arthur legends.
It was alright but not brilliant. Don't watch it if you're a fan of the Arthur
mythology, for which I am and I was curious about this show.
I will rate this series a score of 6/10.

LOVE AND MONSTERS

We watched this survival rom-com action movie set after the Monsterpocalypse on Netflix this afternoon.
It was diffcult as I could not see very well due to my bloodshot eyes, meh!
Anyway it was a bloody good film. and really good writing and acting.
The special effects were amazing.
I will rate this film a 9/10.

BURN IN HELL PHILLIP

I don't give a flying fuck that he is a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He was a nasty and evil racist, sexist, homophobe, rapist, war-mongering, nonce, and NazI.
I hope he is being flayed in the eternal fires of Hades.
His parasitic bitch of a wife should be next.

GLITCH

We are currently finishing this amazing Australian Zombie drama.
It's a strange one as it's a Zombie series without the usual Zombie trope you would normally get with shows like Z-Nation, etc.
The story is about a group of 7 people (later on 11 people) who crawl there way out of their graves in a small outback town and they are all fully healed but with no memory of their past lives and are taken in and helped by the local police constable as they investigate who they are, how they died, and what they are doing back with the fate of the whole world at risk.
Fantastic acting and writing.
I shall rate all 3 seasons an awesome 10/10.

THE LETTER FOR THE KING

Recently I binged watched the whole series of "The Letter for the King."
A coming of age fantasy series about a group of young knights on a quest.
It's actually based on a 1962 Dutch fantasy novel.
An action packed show with some light hearted moments.
I will rate this series 9/10.

THE GOOD PLACE

I've kept myself bust these last two weeks by binge watching shows on Netflix.
I have just finished watching all four seasons of The Good Place.
It was an amazing and wonderful feel good series and very funny too.
Ted Danson was excellent as the Demon who tries to redeem himself in the afterlife.
The last couple of episodes were quite emotional and for some reason my eyes started to leak with happy tears! lol
Overall, I shall rate this series a FORKing 10/10. ❤

HAPPY REX MANNING DAY!

IN MEMORY OF MY DAD

In memory of my late father who passed away 20 years ago today. We never ever got along as he loved and paid attention to my sister then he ever did with me. He was very secretive about his past and who he really was including his real identity. He was cruel towards me when I was a kid, he use to hit me and mentally abuse me but I still cared about him in some ways. My dad was an RAF pilot and a Police Officer for Thames Valley. Do I miss him now? Yes I do, because I still need to know my past and his. Plus with everything I've gone through over these last several years, I really could have used some fatherly advice and support if he ever would have give me any. Charles Joseph Dominic Louis. (or whatever his real name was) 22nd July 1931 to 6th April 2001.

MONSTERVILLE: CABINET OF SOULS

Watched another Horror Fantasy movie earlier on Netflix too.
"R.L. Stine's Monsterville: Cabinet of Souls."
This was a very good children's horror movie and far better then the previous movie.
I'm rating this a 8/10.

SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK

Watched this Horror Fantasy movie earlier on Netflix.
"Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark" was not that bad but not as good as Goosebumps.
I will give this film a rating of 7/10.
